How to Care for your Bridesmaid Dresses

The wedding day has arrived, and you and your new partner find yourselves in the hustle and bustle of a new life together. And the most exciting thing is that now you have to buy bridesmaid dresses for your companions.

However, this is where women tend to do mistakes as improper handling of dresses may lead to worsening all your dreams you’ve made. Hence, it is important for you to take care of your bridesmaid dresses.

Following are the tips you should consider to take utmost care of your dresses.

1.Transport: There is no denying the fact that the dress needs space. Make sure your dress will be in a bust form & extra long bag, as this would help to eliminate the need for extra pressing or steaming.

2. Steam if needed: Do only if your bridesmaid dress needs it and the fabric can handle it. Also, when traveling long distances with your gown, it needs to be touched up. However, if you cannot make it pressed in a professional way, then make sure you use a white, flat sheet as a medium between the sole plate of your iron and your gown.

3. Don’t forget to hang: Make sure you hand your dress as high as possible when you reach home. Leave in the bag in order to prevent dust from getting trapped in your gown. Also, you may open the bottom of the bag and spread the train out to avoid wrinkles. However, if the bag is not big enough, then all you have to do is just lay a clean sheet on the floor.

4. Do Dry Cleaning: Another step to care for your bridesmaid dresses is that make sure you dry cleaned it within 24-48 hours of your wedding day. Between a lot of activities, sweat, makeup, reception foods and other damaging substances, many stains could be on your dress, which could degrade the beauty.

When these substances left on your bridesmaid dress, they can eat away at the fabric, which would result in permanent staining. Having your dress professionally dry cleaned is the thing that makes you assure that all stains and oils from the wedding day are removed.

If dry cleaning can’t be done immediately, be sure to place your gown in a cloth garment bag, not a plastic one, to allow the dress to breathe properly.

5. Keep away from Lighting: Don’t forget to keep your dress in a dark space. It has been observed that light tends to cause your dress’s fabric to turn yellow. A storage unit may be beneficial for you in order to keep harsh light away from your wedding dress.

If your wedding day is heading nearer, make sure you follow these tips to take care of your dresses so all of your group can make the day a memorable one.
